Dr JC Naran

Dr JC Naran studied to become a medical doctor at the University of Pretoria in 2000.  After completing her internship and community service she worked in the UK in 2003 exploring various fields of medicine.  Upon her return to South Africa, she decided to pursue a career in ophthalmology.

She studied at the University of Witwatersrand rotating through the department of Ophthalmology at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and Helen Joseph Hospital before qualifying as an ophthalmologist in 2009.  She then worked as a consultant ophthalmologist at Sebokeng Hospital and Lenasia South Community Health centre,  with the main aim of reducing blindness due to cataracts.

She then opened a private practice in Lenasia South and later in Rosebank.  On the 1st February 2021, Dr JC Naran decided to move her practice to Sandhurst Eye Centre.

She has an interest in microincision cataract surgery, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other medical retinal diseases.
